Alive & Kicking
04/02/2009 by Debbie.
Yes Girls, I am still Alive & Kicking. In all this snow I have been working on the Village Green Quilters Block of the Month project so I will have a quilt by the end of the year. I have also been busy working on a quilt for my parent’s Golden Wedding which is a simple log cabin in browns and creams more for expediency than anything else. I am having it Long Arm Quilted.
I have a very important deadline for work for the end of February so the sewing has had to be simple for relaxation rather than anything too challenging at the moment.

Windsor - Textile Exhibition
19/06/2008 by Debbie.
18th June - went to Windsor (East Berkshire College) for their end of year textile exhibition. It was brilliant, so worth a visit, especially if you are studying textiles at the moment as all sketchbooks are available for browsing. It is on until Saturday 21st June. What was interesting for me was I met the embroiderer who made a piece called ‘Cockerels Flying Feathers’ which I purchased at an exhibition in Guildford a few weeks ago. Dorle Dawson is a student at Windsor and I look forward to seeing more of her work. Watch out for Ascot traffic though!

Indigo workshop Janice Gunner
16/06/2008 by Debbie.
These workshops organized by the Guild are such good value, £15 for the day with ex president Janice Gunner. My samples have been on the line today and I am rather pleased with them. This could be very addictive. This was my second attempt, I feel another one coming on… I enclose a picture of Anna wearing a Japanese garment (centre) and my indigo blowing in the breeze. The day was hard work but well worth the effort. Also photos of before the Shibori before dyeing and Anna standing over her enormous bucket I have spared you the photos of us wearing masks.

Bra fit for a Moonwalk
14/06/2008 by Debbie.
This is my 3D article for my diploma, it will also double up as “Summer Bloomers” for the Village Green Quilters Challenge. some Day it is going on a Moonwalk. I made the fabric from scraps layered between organza and soluble laundry bags and then free machined on the surface. The flower technique I learnt at a Margaret Beale workshop. Next task to make using the same techniques a mask for a ball in black & silver for my daughter.
